The Greater Battle Creek Ice Hockey Association

Hires Richard Keyes as Director of Operations!

Battle Creek – Richard Keyes was hired Friday as Director of Operations of the Greater Battle Creek Ice Hockey Association, siting the program will take measures to increase enrollments and focus on development in a “Kids First” philosophy!   

"Richard’s reputation in the hockey community is well respected.   Adding Richard to the program is a step in the right direction to something exciting for our community.” Revolution Arena Owner Joe Burkhardt said in a phone conference.     

Richard has a professional hockey background.  He has coached youth hockey in Kalamazoo for the last three seasons.  He owns and operates the Kalamazoo Institute of Ice Hockey, a hockey development company that has gained notoriety for its mentor type education programs.   

Before that he spent nine years as a professional hockey player in the AHL, IHL, ECHL, and one year as a player coach.  Richard Played for the Michigan State Spartans under legendary coach Ron Mason.  He played Junior A Hockey in the NAHL Tier I Hockey League.      

The Greater Battle Creek Ice Hockey Association is planning to announce a new hockey development plan and teams early next week.  Anyone interested in volunteering or coaching please contact Richard at 269-806-7652.
